A case study on the longevity of grief. Over the past 19 years, my family members have all been grieving the same event: the passing of my mother Latoya Marie Hines. However, grief, like most emotions, its felt and experienced differently by each person it meets. I lost my mother, they lost their sister, and he lost his daughter. I can only write from my own perspective unassisted, but by asking for insight I am attempting to put myself in their shoes and write from the perspectives of others. I wrote thes poems as a way of elaborating and elevating my own understanding of the grief they - and I - are eperiencing and provide an insight for others into the innerworkings of the long term effects of grief.
